Ryan’s Picks: 3 Special Places Around Salida

The Aspen Grove Near Salida, CO (Ryan's Special Place)

Yoooo when I say I’m new to Salida, what I mean is that as I’m writing this on October 26, 2023, I’m not even in Salida yet… but I have a home… and all my stuff is in a moving truck, making its way to my door as we speak.

Long before my decision to make Salida my home, I’d already begun experiencing the magic of this place.

There’s a feeling around Salida. Often unspoken, there’s a uniquely calm, peaceful, infectious energy so effortlessly flowing from one person to another. When you’re here, you feel it—even if you can’t put words to it. You just know there’s something special going on.

I felt this magic right away after visiting Salida for the first time in early 2023. And as I spent a month in town during the summer, magical moments began picking up pace. James, Kelsey, Archer and Zyla have played no small part in introducing me to so much of what makes Salida special. Then Liz moved to town and I knew, yep this is my next home.

Gradually on my own, before even living here yet, I’ve already developed special relationships with several places in & around Salida.

To call this place special is an understatement. There are many reasons that make this particular aspen grove uniquely special, and it’s had a formative impact on the lives of several people I’ve been here with.

Because this aspen grove is so sacred to us, we only like to share this spot with friends—and prefer taking peeps here ourselves for their first time. It’s that good.
